For me the reference point initially was Sherlock Holmes, Indiana Jones and Tintin. I imagined myself as ‘Topshay’ and my elder brother as Feluda. The world of mystery always enchanted me. My Dada (Elder Brother) often read the stories from his Feluda collection. ‘Joto Kando Kathmadu Te’ was my first brush with Feluda on television. My mother’s prayers were scheduled accordingly to make sure she was ready before the Iconic Feluda song opener. My brother would finish all his tutions and home work in the morning to make sure he is all set. Our weekly ritual prior to the show was for me to take my red and white bi-cycle and go out to quickly grab some singara for the family to be accompanied with Muri and Cha ( substitution of popcorn for middle class Bengali’s). ![]() Feluda is an Emotionįeluda 30 was not just a television series for us, it was an event for which we waited and prepared for. Every Tuesday we would gather in the living room, around our old colored television set to watch the famous detective series written by Satyajit Ray. ![]() ![]() My grandparents who lived in Kolkata would come down during the monsoon’s every year and one of the key highlight of their month long stay with us was to watch Feluda 30 together as a family. Those were the good old days of Doordarshan and the TV Antenna. I was in school when Feluda 30 first released on television.
